Turn: Washington's Spies
I found a program new to me that has me thinking on a lot...and I wondered if any of you around the kitchen table have seen it. It is "Turn: Washington's Spies", a drama about the Culper spy ring, operated out of Long Island, which fed very valuable information to General Washington and helped the rebels win the Revolutionary War. Produced by AMC, the first season of the program is available on Netflix, where I found it. The current season, if you do not have cable with the AMC channel, is available for purchase from Amazon for streaming.
The program depicts a land under a rather brutal occupation -- and the unhappy lot of most people, most particularly women and slaves. Though it has been much romanticized by many, the Colonial period was actually very rough and dirty and life for many was painful and short.
And the conservatives of the era? Lest we forget, they were called "Royalists".
Has anyone seen the show? I would love to hear your thoughts.
Please come in, be comfortable around the table, and share your day, your weekend plans, and anything else that is on your mind. This is an open thread.
